On January 1st, 1930 Otto Cap established the company. The brand name CAPO was created by his familiy name adding the first letter of his given name.
|World Championships Budapest 1928
3 Austrian road racers finished the highest top ranking in Austria’s history until today:
5. Walter Cap
6. Max Bulla
7. Otto Cap
Harald Cap, son of Otto, starts a custom frame manufacture. First tear drop frame silver brazed in Austria, optimized in wind tunnel & leading to Austria’s top ranking (bronze medal) at Leicester Track World Championship 1984.
The algorithm CAPO COMPUTERRAD is presented at the International Bicycle & Motorbike Show
IFMA of Cologne: How to find the IDEAL POSTURE on the road bike.
Harald Cap starts a decade of bicycle product management in Taiwan. Visiting Taiwanese frame builders he admires their skill in TIG welding. That leads to the decision of introducing the same technique to CAPO’s custom frames. The cooperation with Italian Marco Bertoletti was born.
CAPO BONES: Harald Cap succeeds in developing an algorithm to compute maximum strength & stiffness in relation to minimum weight of tubes.
CAPO STEEF: the new algorithm was created to define the optimized fork rake depending upon head angle & wheel size.
Carbon tubes are employed for custom frames, using tube to tube technique. Titanium frames are welded in vacuum.
The return of steel tubes hits the market, the tensile strength of new martensitic stainless steel climbs up to incredible summits.

Tuning of drive train on road racing & hardtail mountainbike frames:
Optimized interaction of Compact Double Chainwheel with 10/11 speed cassette.
CAPO presents the first hardtail mountainbike frame for steepest uphill climbing possible, using stainless steel tubes of particularly developed shape: the ZOOM bike.
At Eurobike’s Demo Day the ZOOM bike shows up as magnet to international freaks: bike platforms, bike journalists and so forth.
Marco Bertoletti & Harald Cap determine a new joint venture with stainless steel frames:
